She Only Asked for Pads

She Only Asked for Pads
She did not ask for money.
She did not ask for anything complicated.
She simply asked for sanitary pads.
It may sound like a small request, but for a girl who cannot always afford basic menstrual products, having pads can mean getting through the day without fear, embarrassment, or having to choose between her basic needs.
So when she asked, we listened.
We gave her the pads she needed. But what mattered in that moment went beyond the packet in her hands. It was the simple reassurance that someone had heard her, cared about what she was going through, and was willing to help.
Menstrual hygiene is not a luxury. It is part of a girl’s health, dignity, and confidence.
No girl should have to miss school, hide away, or go without basic menstrual care because she cannot afford it.
For us, this was a small act of support.
For her, it meant one less thing to worry about.
And sometimes, that is where care begins: not with grand gestures, but with listening when someone asks for something they should never have had to go without.
