Hassan’s Journey: From the Streets of Kisumu to Hope and Education
Four years ago, our journey brought us to Kisumu, where we met a young boy named Hassan Otiesi, who was struggling on the streets. Born on August 14, 2004, in Kisumu County, Hassan had been raised by his mother, Asha Anyango, who was his greatest support. Tragically, in 2017, his mother disappeared, leaving Hassan without a means to sustain himself.
At just 13 years old, Hassan found himself alone and living on the streets. His dream of an education seemed impossible as he scrounged for food and faced the harsh realities of street life. But amidst this despair, Hassan met one of his street friends, Fred, who told him about an event hosted by The Face of the Street Kids—a street feeding and mentoring camp. Though reluctant, Hassan joined Fred, unaware that this decision would change his life.
Through our mentorship and rehabilitation programs, Hassan found new hope. We located his grandmother, who welcomed him with open arms, and connected him with his former school to continue his education. Today, Hassan is thriving. He is a class 6 student at Kasagambo Primary School in Kisumu, where he excels in his studies and is praised by his teachers.
We are grateful for your continued support through prayers and contributions. With your help, children like Hassan are given a second chance at life. Your partnership in this cause is truly transforming lives.
Let’s continue to reach out to street children and give them a future.
